PERETES ESTATE BRUT GRAN RESERVA 2013 - Unique design for extreme Xarel.lo

This is a very special cava that is named after the founder of the winery, Carles Sumarroca. The cava has a dedication from the three children to their mother: "This is a tribute to our mother; the love for the land is a constant in her life. "
Cava comes from a plot of Xarel.lo selected from all that we have based on criteria of high quality and personality. The bottle design, inspired by the ancient Greek amphorae, won an award from Sumarroca and ADI-FAD 2004.

The wine is grown in the Peretes plot, located in the Santa Creu sector of the Sumarroca estate. This is a gravelly piece of land where fossils can be found both on the surface and deep in the soil, giving the grapes their unique character. Planted over 50 years ago, the Xarel·lo vines have absorbed the essence of the land.

The 2013 vintage began with heavy rains in October but there was virtually no rainfall for the rest of the winter and temperatures were very mild. Towards the end of February and March the temperatures dropped, which delayed bud-break a little. The weather became much hotter in April, but at the end of the month rainy weather set in and continued throughout May, bringing temperatures down to levels more typical of February. Temperatures remained low in June, and it was July before the hot, dry weather arrived. The weather in August and September, as the grapes ripened, was cool, especially at night. Harvesting began a week later than usual, with significant gaps between the dates on which each variety was collected.

Unique and very intense aroma with mineral notes and roasted varieties that gives it a unique combination. The palate is extremely tasty with fine bubbles that melt integrating the cava to give adequate complexity.  It begins with high fruitiness and finishes with very interesting fresh notes and minerals.

Harvested by hand and transported to the winery quickly to gently press without stemming to extract the first fraction of grapes, after lowering the temperature to 10 ° C to prevent oxidation. Static racking and natural for 24 hours. Fermentation in stainless steel at 16 ° C for 20 days. Aged in stacks for about 45 months.
