A coupage of the most important red grape varieties at Sumarroca - Merlot, Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon - to make a fresh and harmonious red wine. It comes exclusively from our own vineyards.

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE VINEYARD

The wine comes from the assembly of the varieties merlot, cabernet sauvignon and tempranillo spread over plots located within the Sumarroca estate (Sant Sadurní d'Anoia). It is an estate of chalky soil with a certain presence of gravel and very poor in organic matter.

HARVEST

The 2016 vintage has the main characteristic and determining fact of being the driest in history with 55% less rainfall than usual. This factor, along with the slightly accumulated drought of the previous year caused the grapevines to react intelligently and naturally adapt to expectations. Thus deciding not to grow the seeds of the grapes to ensure that they ripen impeccably. As for the temperatures, autumn and winter were extremely warm with an average temperature of two degrees higher than normal. The rest of the year, temperatures were slightly above average around 1 ° C and without radically elevated records. In August, the minimum temperatures dropped and helped correct the maturation of the small seeds.

TASTING NOTES

Ripe cherry colour with violet traces. Intense aroma of fruity raspberry and cherry jam on notes of eucalyptus and fennel flavour denoting youth. In the mouth it is soft and velvety with an elegant intensity of raspberries and cherries. On the palate you find some balsamic notes that make the wine refreshing. The finish is long and fruity with notes of cherry jam.

PRODUCTION

Vinified separately according to the varieties. Macerated at 24 ° C for 8 days in the case of tempranillo and 10 days in the rest of deposits. Shedding to break the top layer and posterior pumping at a variable rate, depending on the evolution of maceration. Malolactic fermentation in tank at a controlled temperature of 20 ° C. Finally, a light work of the fine lees is done for superior softness of the wine in the mouth.
